Bio

Rafael Cirne Lima is a Physical Educator with over 30 years of professional experience, the last 26 years working in the United States, in Northern California, to be more exact. Born in Porto Alegre – Brazil, in the 70s he had his total dedication to sport, starting with a ball (soccer), passing through tennis until he became a semi-professional in surfing, where he ended his competitive career and began (1989) his career as a trainer.

He graduated in Physical Education from Centro Universitário Metodista (IPA) in 1994 with a focus on Biomechanical studies and Sports Psychology. Throughout his career, he has worked with more than 10,000 athletes of all ages/levels around the world and also with coaches, physical trainers and psychologists, directly or indirectly. He created a training method and a tool for mental training considered an invention by the American Patent and Trademark Office receiving a Utility Patent in 2012 #8,241,152

Rafa offers mental focus training and mentoring services to high-performance, in training and recreational athletes individually or groups and also in the corporate sector. The sessions vary in length depending on the objective and include practical exercises, focused on training attention and presence in the most relevant moments of competitive stress. Assessments and sessions are carried out both in person and online.

Method

Its method Patented #8,241,152 by American Patent and Trademark Office is based on three phases:

Recognize the stressor, the reasons for the doubts, and the anxiety about resolution. Making a simple and direct assessment of the weaknesses and frustrations that hinder better performance, recognizing where the pressure comes from.

Resolve:   create action plans, using techniques such as controlled breathing, role-play and modeling, to improve the technical, physical, tactical and mental aspects, generating more confidence and focus to compete.

Reinforce: using positive visual reinforcement with words (keywords) that stimulate action as a trigger; words like “focus” or “breathe”, for example, printed on silicone rubber, to be placed where they can be seen. These words serve as reminders of the action plan created in phase resolve.
